Strong: 2 programs where young women hold leadership positions; all engagement ensures gender balance and youth voices. one program brings forth voices of young indigenous women.<br><br>Tanzania youth biodiversity network, CBD-how to engage . local to international perspective. youth and women groups, chapters working on Biodiversity too, expanding in TZ. In March youth spaces and women groups-GBFramework ahead of CoP&nbsp;<br><br>Practical experience-how to identify critical issues on the ground that can lead to advocacy level. how diagnose the problem. how use traditional knowledge to be able to have majority to participate in project design. many african communities messages reach people in smaller areas (need to consider timing/seasons/HWC/PWD)etc.  traditional methods could include send someone with a letter via motorbike or via telephone to reach communities. methods that don't undermine or intimidate individuals/communities...perhaps separate men and women to get different ideas shared freely. understand cultural context: how to understand gender sensitive issues. how to get people to open up and talk/share.  When/who/how use traditional means and technological means. project design is key to understand gender context and inclusion, distance, cultural diversity.  how much is set aside for project design if it doesn't include the communities.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>women are most vulnerable in biodiversity, decision and policy making processes.<br><br>biodiversity and climate issues gender issues are key/need to be included in decision making processes.<br><br>working on LtC2--ensure HRBA meets the unreached especially in local communities, within local communities make sure voices of young women are included. gender issues should be mainstreamed at the heart of each perspective even in indigenous communities. gender is important in policy making.<br><br>in many african countries there's been improvement in mentioning gender, but not necessarily in practice. at community level a certain % needs to be reached but the women also have to feel safe/able to speak freely. in policies eg Beijing declaration many changes have happened but need to emphasize implementation.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Madagascar: revise the law on community-based management, is gender aspect captured in the new text of the law? Opportunity to strengthen gender in the law (national level) which will be discussed in parliament at the end of the year (communities to manage their resources). NTFP: in the beginning environmental organization, but important to have a holistic approach, the whole-of-community approach. Just talking to men is not enough, less than half the community. Get the full perspective before any policy work to be done. Work with eco-feminist groups, tap their expertise.&nbsp;<br>Important role and knowledge of women in natural resource management, important to support such role (including with appropriate policies).<br>Philippines: forest-related management and traditional medicines (women). Small NTFP enterprises where women have key roles, often lead, but with men too.<br>Madagascar: Men go to sea to fish; women take the fish on the shore and sell at the market, women also fishing on the reef. On land, men at the market; women supported to be more involved in community enterprises, contribute to the household income.<br>Indonesia: the 'bameti' tradition where women control the resources of the tidal area in coastal communities in Eastern Indonesia. A group of women advocated to the local government for resource rights to women over tidal area.</div>]]></description>
