To me, Being Barrow BOLD means taking myself out of my comfort zone and doing what is best for the kids and for Barrow. It also means helping students get out of their comfort zones as well. Trying and learning new and different things and becoming the BEST us we can be!

Being Barrow BOLD means finding any way you can to reach ALL of your students. This means being willing and flexible to adjust what you teach and how you teach. Keeping our students engaged and excited to learn is key! We have to create a safe place for them to make mistakes, take risks, and ask questions.

Being Barrow BOLD means being reflective and inquisitive. How can I improve? When is the best time for this approach? How can adapt this for my struggling readers? How can I extend this lesson for my gifted learners? What if I did it this way? It's not about having all the answers; it's about asking the right questions.

Being Barrow BOLD means, being the one to go above and beyond what is necessary to ensure that my students have what it takes to be successful. Sometimes that means stepping out there by myself to provide the type of un written service to my student, so that they may reach their potential. Being Barrow Bold means not being afraid to raise high expectations of my counterparts, so that our students will realize their potential and become self motivated to believe YES I CAN, instead of believing that they can not and therefore are enabled by those who do not believe in the students capabilities. Being Barrow Bold means Being the one to be a resource of firm truths for parents, who struggle with the reality of being a special needs parent. Special Education is a challenging place... But the rewards are very many, if we all just look past diagnosis' and see kids for who they truly are and who they are capable of becoming. Sometimes teaching the child is also teaching the parent.

-
