Teaching Self-Management Skills

For sped, self-management is based on individual student needs and ability levels, as per their IEP.

Some students require explicit instruction on self-management and time-management, but others simply need reminders and/or adult support to facilitate.

Accommodating for Challenges

IEP's have a section that includes accommodations/modifications. As the sped team, we will ensure that all teachers are apprised to this information and will assist in implementing appropriate accommodations for individual students.

Allowing a student extra time to self-regulate if they are reaching frustration.

Alternate location to self-regulate and/or provide an environment that better meets their needs.

Educate and inform other adults who are working with students on an IEP.

Provide additional organization supports to include a schedule/timeline
