Starting with an animated version of the play, children will move onto telling the story for themselves (having established their awareness of the plot). The two lessons outlined here provide the foundations for future lessons in which children will use text extracts to generate improvised scenes which, when joined together will tell the whole story. In the following section of the teaching sequence, the children will formalise their improvised scenes and, in groups,  write the scripts. Each group will assess their own work by watching another group perform their work.
