3/8 + 4/8 does not equal 7/16 because the denominator is different. When you add or subtract the denominator should stay the same. In 7/16 you are saying there is sixteen parts. So sixteen is the whole. Sixteen should not be the whole. The denominator should be eight because that is the whole. You can't just change the denominator. When you add two fractions only the numerator should change. For example 3/9+ 2/9= 5/9. Do you see how i added the numerator but not the denominator? I did not change the whole. When you add two fractions together the numerator should change. The rule even says that the denominator stays the same but the numerator can change. In other words 3/8 +4/8 = 7/8 because the denominator stays the same.

3/8 and 4/8 is not 7/16 because 3/8 and 4/8 actually equals 7/8 because 3/8 and 4/8 has the same dinominator but 7/16 has 16 as a dinominator not 8. So 3/8 and 4/8 do not equal 7/16.

because in both addition and subtraction, the denominator doesn't change while it in your answer does.

3/4 + 4/8 is not 7/16 Because 3 + 4 may equal 7 but the denominator is suppose to stay the same.Also 7/16 s not equivalent to 3/4 or even 48.

3/8+4/8 is not 7/16 because you only add the numerator not both.Ex: 1/6 + 3/6 is 4/6 not 4/12.So don't add the denominator ONLY the numerator.Imagine that there is a square that has only 8 parts, you want to add something /12 to 7/8.So you do 3/8 + 4/8 and get 7/16.BUT WAIT HOW DID 8 PIECES POP OUT OF NO WERE?That's why this is incorrect, if you add the denominator then it is like you got 8 pieces out no were.3/8 + 4/8 is really 7/8 and I have no doubt about it because the denominator [8] always stays the same and you add the numerator.

more examples: 3/6 + 1/6 = 4/6.
see how I did not add the denominator but did to the numerator?

3/18 + 6/18 = 9/18

All in all 3/8 + 4/8 is not 7/16 it is 7/8 because you do not add the denominator.

3/8 + 4/8 is not 7/16 because you add the numerator ONLY not both!!! To get 7/16 you would add 3/16+ 4/16 . Note: adding fractions/ only add the numerator .

3/8+4/8 is NOT 7/16 because when adding or subtracting fractions THE DENOMINATOR NEVER CHANGES. So it would just be 3+4=7 not 3+4=7+8+8=23. So in conclusion 3/8+4/8 really is 7/8 not 7/16.

3/8 +4/8 is not 7 16 because you can not add the denominators you only add the numerators now you may think that 8+8 dose=16 and 4 +3=7 but you can only add the the numerators not the denominators by the way the problem is 7/8

3/8 + 4/8 would not be 7/16 because you can not add or subtract the bottom number you can only add or subtract the top.
Note: adding fractions/only add or subtract the numerator.

3/8+4/8 does not equal 7/16 because the denominator always has to stay the same so the real answer is 7/8. Then you can try to simplify it but it can't be simplified because of the seven. When you are adding fractions you only add the numerator and keep the denominator the same as I have said above. if you change the whole it's a way different fraction [don't change the denominator.]

4/8 + 3/8 isn't 7/16 because you aren't supposed to add the denominator. if you add the denominator than it's kind of making more parts not adding parts! plus if you add more parts even 4/8 is more than 7/16. If you have a pizza and it has 3 parts out of 8 then you make 4 more then it is 7 parts out of 8. If you add the denominator then it would be like this. You have 3 parts of a pizza out of 8 , then you add 4 more then it would be 7/16. that is why you never add the denominator only add the numerator.
