         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><br></strong><em>The World Health Organisation defines well-being as “positive mental &nbsp; health is a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work &nbsp; productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or &nbsp; her community.” <br><br>- </em>Defines wellbeing as purely positive rather than on a spectrum <br>- Mental health disorders may mean some individuals cannot fully consciously acknowledge their abilities and capacities to carry out everyday tasks<br>- Ignores external situational variables that could cause well being to fluctuate<br>- You can still be productive etc. and still be lacking in positive wellbeing<br>- Students 'normal stresses of life' differ as we have additional external pressures which are often long term <br><em><br></em><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>The NHS have been publishing the following steps to well-being for many years.&nbsp;</em></div><div><em>• Connect with other people (Hedonic) = </em>would be useful for students, connecting with likeminded people who are from similar demographics e.g. other fellow students. Connections with staff and supported by the university.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><em>• Be physically active (Eudemonic)&nbsp;<br></em><br></div><div><em>• Learn new skills (Eudemonic)<br></em><br></div><div><em>• Give to others (Eudemonic)&nbsp;<br></em><br></div><div><em>• Pay attention to the present moment (Hedonic)<br><br><br></em>All are beneficial for student wellbeing however the definitions we think are restrictive, the definitions do not seem provide concrete examples of how to apply each step into daily routines</div>]]></description>

         <title>How do we plan to look after our well being this upcoming year?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Keeping good communication with friends and peers&nbsp;<br>- Taking time out for ourselves away from our studies<br>- Keeping a to do list to ensure we can stay on top of our work so we don't feel too stressed<br>- Ensuring we are spending enough time outdoors and finding ways to feel good such as through exercising or meeting up with friends etc.<br>- Take necessary breaks and rests when needed&nbsp;<br>- Acknowledge when you need help&nbsp;<br>- Maintain a good healthy lifestyle e.g. eating correctly and getting enough sleep </div>]]></description>
