Changi Aviation Gallery

For the first station, we were all assigned to Changi's Aviation Gallery. We were supposed to take the escalator all the way to the top floor in order to find this place.

Although there were some difficulties in folding the ideal plane, we tried our best.

After folding the two planes, we made our way to a quiet place in order to test for the distance each plane could travel and recorded it down on a paper.

At the end of the experiment, we had to calculate each plane's average distance traveled and keyed in the answers we got for the questions provided in the iPad.

Folding Airplanes.

As we were not skilled in the art of folding origami, we had a hard time figuring out which way to fold the given apparatus in order to complete the station. Although after some time, we managed to somewhat turn the sheet into a decent airplane, we took a long time to complete this station.

Finding Allowance

This problem occurred after we found the weight of the three baggage. We realized that the four of us were weak in Arithmetic and could not figure out the answer. However, we decided to ask the instructor for help and he patiently taught us how we were supposed to go about finding the answer.

1. We learnt many things from the trail but two things which we found the most interesting was learning how to apply maths and science in real life. This really piqued our interest as we understood maths and science are actually more useful in life than we thought and not just a subject we learn within the four walls of our classroom.

2. Another thing we learnt from this trail which was valuable was teamwork. Each of us have different strengths and weakness, some of us are good at mathematics while others are better in science. Thus, working in a team is really great as we can seek help from our fellow teammates. We also found out that if we all co-orperated, we could finish a station in no time!

It trained us to understand more about how these subjects are linked in one way or another.

In a nutshell, this trail to the airport widened our field of vision in many aspects, for it was an eye-opening experience for all of us. This journey made us understand so much more about real-life contacts, something textbooks could never be on par with.

We are very grateful that the teachers had put in so much time and effort in organizing this trail for us and we hope that there will be more to come in the future.
