They were reviewing for the state test.

• He gave them an outline and expanding upon those topics. He gave them ways to remember each of the events and topics in simple terms.

He stood and lectured, but the students were engaged. They respected him and were interested in the information he was presenting because of the language he used.

Students were family-like. They joked with each other and with Mr. Ebright. It was a comfortable learning environment.

The students were taking notes. She gave them a worksheet to fill in to help keep their notes and topics straight.

The students were to take notes on their own over the chapter because there was not enough time to dive into the notes if the students did not have any knowledge of what was being talked about.

She walks around the room when she lectures, and her powerpoint slides all had pictures.

She gave them a worksheet to work on in class only because she wanted them to be able to ask questions and not look up the answers online.

She gave them Bozeman videos to watch online and take notes over to clarify better.

She, also, pulled some girls aside who missed class so that she could sit with them and explain the concepts they missed. Then they went over the assignment.

The students loved her and felt comfortable asking and answering questions.

The students were very kind to each other, and I could see that they respected one another. Everyone seemed to be friends.

The students knew to immediately pray once the bell rang, even though the teacher was not in the room. They, also, knew to turn in their assignments right away.

She put the schedule of what would be done during that class period on the board.

She had students read pages about what they were going to cover, which was compare and contrast, and then had them summarize it in simpler words.

The relationship she had with her students was fun, but her expectations were known. They could joke with her, but they knew when it was time to work and time to talk.

The students talked a lot, which I'm assuming means they like each other.

She speaks to them in Spanish and translates it to English right after.

In the beginning of class, she had students popcorn to tell the time in different ways, and they received popcorn if they answered correctly.

They had show and tell in Spanish.

She was very positive and reinforced them with compliments to build confidence.

They went over vocabulary with a powerpoint that had a picture with the Spanish word to help them put it into memory. Then, they would all repeat the word twice.

She incorporated stories from her own life that were memorable and helped explain words.This helped the students with words and to form a relationship with her.

She had student popcorn each Spanish sentence from the book to give them practice.

While the student worked, she walked around to answer questions or she sat at a chair in the front of the room to show them she was available to give them her attention.

This is a class to help students get a first-hand look at the nursing field to see if that is what they want to do.

During this class, they had a presentation by Sedgwick county EMS. Every week a different field in the health care professions comes to talk to the students.

The students were prepared and taking notes.

The students loved their teacher and trusted her. They knew that she cared for them in the way that she spoke to them and wanted to help them succeed in whatever they did. 

It was a small group of Kapaun and Carroll students. Having two schools naturally causes separation, but the students got along. I could tell that they all were checking out because they were seniors and just tired of school.

They were much more lenient with the cell phone policy. Most students had headphones in or were on their phones during class. The people in the office were very nice and friendly. Observing was a little less organized that with Bishop Carroll in that there was not a schedule for me, and teachers that I was assigned to kept trying to pawn me off to a different classroom. He handed out worksheets to help the students to keep all the new concepts straight and organized.

They, also, received a worksheet to practice problems.

Seating was flexible in that they could choose to sit at a group table,  a single desk, or a rolling chair. 

He gave the students time to work on the assignment, but he walked around to be available for questions.

The students were on their phones a lot during notes and homework time. There seemed to be less socialization among the entire class.

The students didn't talk to the teacher as much as I thought they would. I could tell that they all liked him, though, and he had their respect.

She was a great teacher. The students loved her and understood the way she taught them.

They talked as if they were peers rather than teacher-student.

They were practicing problems to get ready for the AP Calculus test.

This classroom of students was much more talkative and acknoweledge me. 

The students all got along and seemed to be friends.

She would have a student explain how to get the answer to the problem to help other students understand in a simpler language.

MATH STRATEGIES CLASS

• This was a class of four for students, who needed extra help during the day. She was able to sit with them and answer questions fully without feeling pulled away because there are 30 people there.

• They got to pair up and do a project and homework with each other
