         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Chemical name: </strong>Saccharides (Monosaccharide)</div><div><strong>Chemical formula: </strong>C<sub>6</sub>H<sub>12</sub>O<sub>4</sub> (Glucose)</div><div><strong>Health effects: </strong>eating in moderation can provide energy lost in exercise, relieve fatigue, and maintain normal blood sugar levels. Excessive consumption can cause obesity, atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, diabetes and many other health problems. Eating too many polysaccharides in young children can affect the normal development of bones.</div><div><strong>Natural source</strong>: plants combine carbon dioxide and water to make grapes through photosynthesis. People grow sugar cane to make sugar.</div><div><strong>Physical &amp; chemical properties:</strong> <br>1.Monosaccharide water soluble, polysaccharide water <br>    soluble base.    <br>2.Monosaccharides have sweet taste, polysaccharides<br>   have no sweet taste    <br>3.glucose in living organisms canundergo oxidation<br>    reaction, release heat.    <br>4.A moleculecontaining multiple hydroxyl groups that can be esterified with acids.</div><div><strong>Purpose &amp; function</strong>: carbon skeleton/cytoskeleton providing energy, carbohydrate/substance metabolism. There are few natural sources.
