El curso tiene como objetivos:
  1. Ofrecer a los/as estudiantes la oportunidad de integrar y aplicar los conocimientos teóricos metodológicos de la profesión, en búsqueda del desarrollo de las comunidades y el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de sus habitantes.
  2. Incorporar al o la estudiante a la realidad social en las comunidades e instituciones para el desarrollo de sus potencialidades, fomentar su crecimiento profesional y su maduración personal.

  3. Diseñar  e implementar   un  proyecto social de bienestar para las comunidades. Puede ser un proyecto de investigación o intervención social.

Debido a la pandemia del covid19, se realizaron adecuaciones para realizar un abordaje en la distancia.

La Directora de la Escuela es  Profesora Milka Ruiz de Galástica.

La carrera inició en el año 1996 en CRUSAM. La primera promoción de estudiantes fue en CRUSAM.

La carrera tiene 24 años formando profesionales de Desarrollo Comunitario. La carrera tiene  la  ley n°49 del año 2017  especial que regula la profesión.

La profesión tiene su Consejo Técnico liderado por el MIDES.

La profesión tiene su escala salarial, puede ubicarla en Gaceta Oficial. 

La profesión desde 1996 al 2020 a la fecha se ha dictado en los Centros Regionales. Este año 2021 es que se empieza a dictar en el Campus en la Facultad de Administración Pública.
