Why does the ice cream seem to melt from the side, then the middle
Maybe because like the ice cream is laying on the sand and the sides of the ice cream is actually touching the sand (and the sand might be warm). The middle is just on ths stick.

Gillian Paseka 1mo
The ice cream melts side to side, then in the middle because the direct heat is on the outside, and it wouldn't make sense if it melted inside to outside when the direct heat is on the outside. Basically the heat waves are first hitting the outer part of the ice cream before the center causing the outside of the ice cream to melt first!

I think that it will work for most. I do think that it still will have varying results because the ice-cream could be more cream based, or it could be more water/ice based. The ingredients will change the result because the elements of the experiment are changing.

Samantha Norton 1mo
The color is just dye in the ice, so the ice is a solid where the color is liquid, making it so that the color will leave first/ before the ice can melt.

Kelly Avery 1mo
The red and yellow Popsicles are dyed that color but also mainly consist of juice. Therefore, when the melting process begins, the juice and/or dye will take less time because its not solidified. The cream popsicles or chocolate popsicles melt as one because they consist of frozen cream or chocolate without any dye or juice to go off first.

I think that rocks are not sinking into the ice cream, I think that since the ice cream is melting, the rocks are just absorbing the liquids

It probably does because the ice creams have different ingredients which might affect it.

Because the ocean is not made of chocolate. The ocean is the first part of the weather process. First water

I understand what you are saying about the water cycle but I think it is because to get rain you need like 200 gallons of water to evaporate. I do not think that they melted 200 gallons of pure ice cream.

I think that the water gets into the little spaces in between the sand and the surface tension of the water holds onto the sand.
