I used the existing band of 'Train' to create a digipack practise using their photo's/logo's and editing them on photoshop. I found a picture of the artists on google and cropped it to the size I wanted. I made also edited the image size on photo shop to make the album cover 12x12 and roughly the same size as an average CD cover. I then converted the picture into black and white and edited certain rectangles using techniques i have learnt on photoshop to create a distorted effect on the image and make it more interesting. I also found a picture of the train logo and cut around it in photo shop using the magic eraser tool and then dragged it onto my edit and positioned in the top corner as when I was doing my research into digipacks I noticed that was common place for bands/artists to place their name or logo and it also didn't cover any of the artists in the picture and distract attention. Furthermore, finally i added some typography in a bright orange colour to add contrast to the monochrome background. I downloaded a font from 'dafont.com' as I felt it gave me more options and I could test out different fonts before picking one to use, I decided the bottom of the album cover would be the best place to position the writing as it was eye catching but not over powering. To choose what I wrote for my typography I looked up popular songs by train and chose the one I felt would work best with my digipack.

To create this back page I found a picture on google of a 50's jukebox to use in the background of my page, I took inspiration for this from listening to the song as I felt it had a laid back 50's feel to it. I then edited the white background away from the jukebox using the magic eraser tool and moved it onto a separate white background that i also sized to 12x12 to match the front cover. I then changed the opacity to make the jukebox more faded and less overpowering so that I can add typography over top. I then used the 'eyedropper' pipette tool topic up the colour from the front of my digipack and then transfer it so the back was the same colour as the front. Moreover, I added the Train logo again in the bottom corner of the page. I googled popular train songs to add typography and chose 6 of there most famous/ successful songs and chose to use the same font as before to keep continuity between the front and back covers however I changed the colour to black as I felt it fit better with the colour scheme on the back.

Firstly, I found a blank canvas of a CD on google images and put it into photoshop and used the magic eraser tool to erase the bits I didn't want. I found a picture of a an old fashioned 50's microphone to match with the theme of the jukebox to put in the background of the CD. I then changed the opacity to make it more faded and changed the colour of the CD to orange and I feel it is a bright eye catching colour and also showed continuity with the typography on the front of the album cover. Next I added the name of the song again in the same font as before and made it curve round so that it fit along the curve of the CD better by editing it to the 'curved' option on photoshop moreover I felt making the typography white would help to make it stand out more against the orange. I also added the train logo again to add continuity. Finally, I changed the opacity of the small ring in the centre of the CD to make it paler than the rest of the CD as I've noticed that that is common in CD's.

Before committing to one back cover I also made another one to try our different looks and techniques to see which one I preferred. To make this back cover firstly I opened a new image and re sized it to fit 12x12 measurements, I then opened the image of the jukebox and used the select and moving tools to drag it onto my new page. Secondly, I positioned the jukebox half off the page to create an abstract effect without making it so it was indistinguishable. I then changed the opacity of the image so that any typography could be seen over the top. Furthermore, to add more interest to the image I added a black square over the top and then lowered the opacity so that the background changed slightly but the image could still be seen. I then used the typography tool to type the titles of some of the bands most famous songs to use on the back cover, I selected the same font I had used previously on the from to get continuity throughout met digipack. Moreover I change the colour of the typography to white to ensure it stood out against the darker background and that the demographic would be able to read it. Finally, I also added the band logo as bullet points for each of the song titles to add more colour and interest to the back cover and again reference the band as they would be trying to promote themselves through their digipack. I liked this cover however I felt the other one fit more with the overall colour scheme and I felt this one was a bit too dark.

I made a new file to the same size as the front cover 12x12 and made the background colour the same as the typography on the from cover using the the pipette eye drop tool to pick out the same colour and the used the paint bucket to fill the background. Secondly, I found a picture of the artist on google and copy and pasted it into photoshop i then used the selection tool to select the part i wanted and then used the move tool to drag it my selected image onto the orange background. Thirdly, I made the the image of the artist black and white to add further contrast between the orange background. Next, I used the selection tool to select a small section of the face and again used the pipette tool to pick out the colour, I then used the fill bucket to fill the selected area with that coloured paint. I then repeated this technique over the whole face to create a sort of cartoon effect. I then selected random triangles of the background and muse the pipette tool to choose different shades of grey from the artists face and filled them with the different colours using the paint bucket tool to make the background of the image more interesting. Finally, I flattened the image to make the whole thing become the background so nothing could be accidentally moved and then used the move tool to drag the inside cover onto my full digipack.
