Asserted by many as one of the best in his position, Hernandez quickly became a powerhouse in the NFL. With a bright future ahead, the only obstacle was his putrid personality. Full of anger, he made wrong decisions which eventually led to his demise. At a young age, he unawarely made the toxic decision of joining gangs and consuming drugs. Regardless, he reached the NFL and quickly became one of the best. It was later in his career that he made the heinous crime of killing someone. In 2012, he was accused of a drive-by shooting in Boston, claiming the life of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado. One year later, he was charged for murdering his friend Odin Lloyd in 2013. Because of his malfeasance act, he was sentenced to prison and his career as a professional player ended abruptly. Media was quick to cover the story. Some news outlets were on the case for almost three years and notified the public whenever something of impact occurred. However, what really shocked media and the world was when Aaron decided to commit suicide in his prison cell. The moment that turned Aaron into a tragic hero was covered by every media outlet around the world.

Tragic elements are used around the world to capture the public’s attention. Since he was a famous person, news outlets know that they get the best ratings, people want to know every single detail about it, and in a way, the media titles it as something you have to read to fully understand it. Aaron’s verdict and jury wasn’t getting a lot of attention from the public. That’s why only a few news outlets covered the study. What really grabbed new outlets attention was when he committed suicide. This opened a door for them to cover the whole story and speculate the cause of his crime. Still to this day, the public doesn’t know why Aaron killed Odin, however news outlet connecting previous things they know, speculate the cause. It is said that Aaron killed Odin because he was angry at him. Odin was sharing false information about him and Aaron didn’t tolerate this at all. That’s what some media covers, however other medias are putting other causes like his sexuality. The point is that media will always cover a story if it’s going to attract the public, even though they don’t have everything accurately. Media puts too much emphasis in tragic elements that they are willing to spread false informations to connect the points. They expose shocking information to catch everyone’s attention. Also they use specific wording to guarantee that the audience will press the link to get the full details. For example, the use of specific wordings to attract audiences can be seen with “Aaron Hernandez died as he lived: a mystery to everyone.” The title itself is a puzzle, a misleading question that will a hundred percent get higher ratings. In order to understand the title and be given answers, the public has to read the full story. The full story doesn’t consist of why he committed suicide, it will also talks about his past, previous problems, assumptions and false information. However, what most news outlet have in common is that the problem originated with his anger issues. According to coaches, “there was so much ange” (USA Today). Aaron acted according to his emotions. This can be seen with his decision to solve his problems by killing Odin instead of talking. That decision, which was fueled by anger, put him in a situation which he could only escape by committing suicide, making him a tragic hero.

A tragic hero is someone that makes a judgmental error that inevitably leads to his/her demise. That’s why Aaron falls in the category of a tragic hero. His decision of using anger to make decisions and solve problems led him to losing everything, even his life. Aaron is not the first nor the last person to let his emotions overshadow his reasoning, even in literature. A great example in literature can be Hamlet. He is considered a tragic hero because he couldn’t control his anger issues and made various fatal mistakes. In a way, he killed his image, the life of others, and at the end of the play, his own life. Since the mistake of using anger as a way to make decisions is too broad to cover the whole play, this quote specifically shows how Hamlet was willing to act throughout the play. "O, from this time forth, my thoughts be bloody or be nothing worth," (Act 4, Scene IV). The author chooses the word “bloody” to highlight Hamlet’s decision to use violence, not words, to solve problems.Just like Aaron, he solves his problems using violence and not words. In a way he is saying that if his actions don’t have a direct impact on the victim, then he prefers to not act at all. The application of what he says on the play can be seen in the final scene. He wants to avenge his father by killing his uncle. He is putting into practice what he says and wants to take violent actions to fill his rage. Ultimately, this leads him to his own death since he is poisoned while confronting and killing his uncle. In other words, because he wanted to kill his uncle and live up to his words, he met his fate and died of poisoning. Just like Aaron, he was sent to prison for killing someone and saw taking his life as the only solution.
