If you were accused as a witch you would lose your job family and basically be shunned by society. It was a common occurrence that neighbors who were feuding with each other would get accused as a witch. That would then lead to them losing their job and ultimately losing their property. They required no evidence other than a confession to convict a person as a witch. The only way to actually survive being accused a witch was confessing. They would torture people to get them to confess to being witches and if they didn't they would be executed. They took something called spectral evidence to hold against the accused.
