His social media persona shows that he is very knowledgeable in current economics and has a strong set of liberal values that he revolves around when forming opinions on current economic and political events. His columns and tweets are very liberal focus mainly on what benefits the middle class (the majority of America) and often attack the conservative/republican politicians. Krugman was raised in the hamlet Merrick, NY and attended a modest public high school called John F Kennedy High School in Bellmore. He was accepted to t prestigious Yale University and earned his B.A. summa cum laude in economics in 1974. He then he completed his PhD in three years at MIT. He has been as professor of economics at many prestigious university such as MIT, Stanford, Yale, and the London School of Economics.  In 2008, Krugman was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Being a second generation American, having been raised in a modest hamlet, and attending an ordinary public school, his empathy of the middle class life seem to influence his adamant liberal views.
