The first photo is an image of Dong Ha city in 1990, the first years after the province was re-established. We can easily see that the streets are still very deserted, with few vehicles and people on the road, mainly bicycles, a few old motorbikes and most of the traffic is still on foot. The road seems to be a dirt road, a common type of road in Vietnam at that time. It is certain that on rainy days it will be very slippery, making it difficult for people to travel. The surrounding landscape is mainly forests, mountains and trees. It seems that from any angle of the photo you can see large trees. In addition, there are no high-rise buildings, mainly small, low-rise houses with an ancient look. Previously, the population was very small, in 2009, about 10 years after this picture was taken, the population here was still only about 80,000 people, so the houses were often quite far apart, often with a large garden surrounding the house. All of these created a very ancient beauty for Dong Ha city many decades ago. But also help us have a clear comparison when comparing with the image of the city at the present time.

PRESENT

There are many significant changes in the image of Dong Ha at present. With the strong urbanization process, we can witness that this city seems to have developed rapidly. The first noticeable point we seem to see is the appearance of many high-rise buildings. The buildings are designed extremely modernly, including Muong Thanh Hotel, Vincom Plaza. Not only that, the roads have also been significantly improved, with more lanes, each road is also designed extremely beautifully and modernly. There are a variety of means of transportation such as buses, cars, and trams. The population density has also increased significantly with a total population of more than 164,000, nearly double that of 1990. Houses are also built closer together due to the strong increase in population. Service activities are also more diverse: there are more amusement parks, playgrounds, restaurants, and schools built with increasingly improved quality. Obviously, thanks to the urbanization process, urban landscapes have been formed, and residents' lifestyles have also changed to adapt to the social context.

Dong Ha City is the political, economic, cultural and social center of Quang Tri province, located at the intersection of National Highway 1A connecting Hanoi Capital - Ho Chi Minh City and the Trans-Asia road system in the direction of East-West connects Thailand, Laos, Myanmar with other countries in the region. In recent year, Dong Ha with its remarkable development has regconized as urban type two on 14th of October in 2024. And before achieving such achievements, let's see how the urbanization process takes place through the next presentation.

4. So the part i want to talk to you next is about the effect of this phenomenon: the positive and negative. Visually, we can see that urbanization brings a lot of benefits to our city. About economy, having more new urban areas like Vincom helps people have more jobs and stabilize their income. This will contribute to economic growth for the city in particular and the province in general. In addition, the consumer market is also expanding because people have more choices of products and reputable places for shopping. And of course, when demand increases, it will attract many domestic and foreign businesses to invest, creating opportunities to become a major city in the country. Some other benefits include upgraded infrastructure and economic transformation towards industrialization and modernization. And how about the negative? Environmental pollution is one of the consequences caused by urbanization. This is because waste from factories and people's daily activities has not been treated well. Next, unstable social security and increasing social evils are also negative aspects that we must mention. Some evils in our city include drug trafficking and addiction, and property theft. Overpopulation and the gap between rich and poor are also some of the negative effects that can occur when urbanization happens too fast and there is no reasonable development policy. And above are the positive and negative effects of urbanization on our city. Of course the positive effect is greater. Now let's move on to the final part of this presentation.
