  • Read the specified areas of the research paper: Comedy Discourse & Gender Identity. (You may wish to read more but the areas with a line are the minimum) Annotate the paper to link what you read to what you already know about gender so that it is easier to remember. Highlight quotes, theories/concepts and data that you might want to use.

  • Analyse the 4 transcripts with different Language Levels. Remember the 3 layers: Discourse & Pragmatics, Syntax (this will include joke set up and punchline), Lexis & Semantics.

  • Link aspects of the transcripts to the Research paper and other relevant language theories you know. Yes the focus is on Gender but the way that identity is communicated may draw on other theories of Discourse, Power etc.

  • Plan some general POINTS with EVIDENCE that you COULD make using the cake essay plan provided.

  • Transfer the EVIDENCE to your data sheet to use in the ACP in class.
