Link: https://empatico.org/
Description: Empatico allows teachers to connect with other classrooms around the globe. The site provides a platform where educators can communicate in order to plan meeting times through a live-conferencing platform such as Zoom.
Supports Project-Based Learning: Empatico encourages student engagement because it exposes individuals to others just like them in other parts of the world. Students can connect to create projects together and ask questions to their peers in another country.
Justify Categorization: The best way to connect is through a Zoom meeting where both classes meet. The educators can post the meeting links on an LMS and all students can join and communicate through this means. Asynchronously, communicating with a class that most likely does not use the same LMS would be extremely difficult.
Project-Based Unit: Students conduct research about the other country, asking questions about the culture and customs. Students write informational paragraphs through Google Docs.
ISTE Standards for Students: (1.7 Global Collaborator) Students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams locally and globally.
