I was impressed by the term "compassion". Whether it is the compassion from others or the compassion I give to others, it is an effective way to alleviate our sadness. When I am sad, my friends always use their compassion to comfort me and tell similar dilemma they met before. I remember once I failed in math exam, and then one of my classmate come to show his compassion to me. He said that he also failed before, but after studied harder, now he got good grades. Then I felt better.
Answers
1.Yes. Compassion is an emotional response that can alleviate others' suffering. Since my friends always show their compassion to me, I think it is a good way.
3.People always get similar experience, so they can console others by sharing own experience and giving some advise. In this way, people are easier to be relieved.

Discipline: Social Sentence
Summary: Stephen Ph.D. reveals the wisdom about the term "Luck", which is proposed by a British experimental psychologist Richard Wiseman in his book "The Luck Factor: The Four Essential Principle. It states that believing ourselves in good luck can really results in good rewards. And vice versa. Same ideas apply to the term "fate". Subjective sense controls human beings so much, so people should learn how to make own luck and react to the fate.
Response:
Believing ourselves to be luck is a fortune to push us to more frequently take risks and chances, which increases the possibility of success. Take my own experience as an example. I remember in my middle, my teacher said that there were only one student could get the free ticket to the tonight show. She used drawing the lots to decide that student. I liked to see that show so much, and I believed i would be the luckiest one. As a result, I was be chosen and got the free ticket. At that time, I realized the power of subjective sense is incredible. Expecting good luck begets good and makes our life easier.

DQs
1) Would you like to apply " Four Essential Principles" in your daily life?

I never regard that anyone can be lucky without hard working. There are so many people who although are not so smart, they work very hard to achieve their goal and make the dream come true. There are some miracles in this world, but we are not the one chosen. If I work hard enough, prepare everything for the future, do everything that I can do, the luck will help me to make dream come true. I believe the original purpose that people brag on is to share positive events and achievement with their friends and families, so that happiness is increasing. However, exaggerated
boast jealousy envy and other negative emotion, which produces an adverse effect. Individuals are usually unable to judge and control the degree of bragging, so the best way to avoid unhappy result is not to brag on social media.

DQs:
2. I think I'd better pay attention to my words and language on social media. Posting my daily life is okay, but not to share some exaggerated achievements or experience. Take myself as an example. I rarely post pictures or share emotions on social media, because I am worried some words I used or happy things I shared would bother my friends. Maybe one of my friends is upset now, and after seeing my posting, he can produce some negative emotions that I do not expect to happen.
3.

Response: When I saw the word" graphic", the first memory came into my mind is different kinds of advertisement. People will see so many advertisements everyday and have to influence by one of them. So, i think that using graph to attract public attention to the health issue is the best way to help people keep health. Like mentioning in the essay that the graph about HIV during WWI, people can trough different kinds of graphs to know how to keep fit and healthy.

DQs:
1. I do think that the graphic designer can use their skill to change people's mind, because we are in new world. Everything around us will be appeared in digital form. People see more pictures than words, so graphic designer can send so many information to the public through their pictures. By repeating the pictures around people, people will believe in the words on the graph to help them keep healthy, which can change their mind.
3. There are several differences between graphic design and advisement. For graphic design, the designer consider more about how their words can be accepted by the public. Most of graphic design are used for educate the public from different aspects. However, for advisement, the designer are aimed to attract the public's attention to buy their products. That's the main difference between the graph and the advisement.

plague(n.)
definition: a disease that causes death and spreads quickly to a large number of people
original:
To warn of disease, “plague crosses” marked victims’ doors, along with the words “Lord have mercy upon us.”
my own sentences: He was carried away by the plague.
plaguily （adj.）
synonyms: disaster, trouble, headache

scold（v.）
definition: o angrily criticize someone, especially a child, about something they have done
original:By World War II, language was more explicit: “You can’t beat the Axis if you get VD,” scolded one American poster.
my own sentences: He did his best to hold himself in, not to scold her.
scolding(v.)
synonyms: rate, hop on

Response: Health and disease have been the top issues that people most care about. With the help of technology, people can quickly get information about how to prevent various disease. For example, the government can spread the warnings using social media in graphic design, which is an effective way. I believe the visual graphic design can safe lots of lives.

DQs:
1.Yes, I think graphic design can change one's mind, because it is a direct and a vivid vision to capture people's sight and quickly let people understand the information. For example, if you just consist some words as a warning, others may not believe in you or get the point. However, if you use the graph to illustrate it, others can get a more straight and deep impression on the thing that you want to express.
2. No, i think graphic design and advertising are similar. First, to reach the effect, they both contain exaggeration in their graphs or pictures. Second, they aims to make people believe that what they show or express in graphs is true. For example, some advertising says this medicine can help you lose the weight. The company wants consumers to believe this medicine does work. Same idea applies to graphic design if they want to promote certain medicine.

reassuring (adj.)
Definition: making people feel less worried or frightened
Original: Now a different take on the symbol is one of the world' s most recognizable icons-and a reassuring beacon of health and safe haven.
reassured (adj.) reassuringly (adv.) reassurance (n.)
My own sentence: When I am nervous, an encouragement from my friend is reassuring.
Synonyms: reliable, safe

adept (adj.)
Definition: good at something that needs care and skill
Original: By the 19th century, Roberts says, mass media, medical science, and graphic design were adept at teaching people about health and disease.
adeptness (n.)
My own sentence: One of my high school teacher is adept at designing robots.
Synonyms: expert, practiced, proficient, skillful
