During my SHS year in ADDU, I met some AMAZING PEOPLE!! Though there were parts where I had ups and downs, and I felt like I wasn't good enough or that I wasn't putting enough effort into my studies, I'm still growing. I'm grateful for experiencing these, and it's such a privilege to be studying in ADDU while learning more things and meeting new people. I’m basically the same person but in a different font and I’m still an anime geek ^^ ( i love AOT! )

Personal Development was highly helpful and insightful, particularly in providing a framework for self-improvement and awareness. It specifically helped me understand my emotional responses through the lens of emotional intelligence, teaching me how to recognize and manage my feelings more effectively. Furthermore, exploring the powers of the mind(like visualization and growth mindset) showed me the potential for self-directed change and helped me realize the extent of my own cognitive abilities and biases. This knowledge provides practical strategies for managing stress and achieving long-term goals.

2. What were your key takeaways from the subject?

My takeaways is that self-awareness and self-knowledge are crucial components to success and well-being. The subject emphasized that personal development involves an active process that requires ongoing and intentional reflection as opposed to simply growing older. Learning about the various stages of development, psychological theories, and stress management strategies has provided me with a practical toolkit to help me work through challenges while maintaining mental resilience in different life circumstances. The biggest learning for me was shifting my thinking from a reacting approach to proactively managing life.

3. What two topics were your favorites and why?

My top two topics were Powers of the Mind and Emotional Intelligence. I found the Powers of the Mind fascinating because it introduced me to new concepts, which showed me that I can consciously create change in my thoughts and behaviors to overcome self-limiting beliefs. Emotional Intelligence was equally valuable because it provided clear actionable steps on how to improve relationships and leadership skills by demonstrating the importance of understanding not only my own emotional experiences but to also empathize and respond appropriately to emotional experiences with others.
