]]> 2017-04-21 14:19:58 UTC https://padlet.com/robertsonpiper/701ey35etpcr/wish/167497187 downeyserenity https://padlet.com/robertsonpiper/701ey35etpcr/wish/167497938 Don't put hot appliances away from materials that can catch fire.  Also keep paper towels away from, hot cooking surfaces.  When food is cooking never leave it unatettended.  Grease can ignite if it gets too hot .  Keep kitchens clean since grease buildup is highly flammable.  Pay special attention to a range hood and areas near the range.  Always keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen area and know how to use it.  Another part of kitchen safety is preventing burns.  Turn pot handles way from the front of the range when you are cooking.  Do not reach over lighted burners.  Use dry, heated- resitant oven mitts to remove hot pans from the oven.  Lift lids and covers away from your fae to prevent steam burns.  Turn off appliances and range controls when you finish cooking.]]> 2017-04-21 14:22:32 UTC https://padlet.com/robertsonpiper/701ey35etpcr/wish/167497938 downeyserenity https://padlet.com/robertsonpiper/701ey35etpcr/wish/167682822 Most deaths and injuries from home fires are caused by smoke inhalation.  Deadly smoke and gases may be produced before flames appear.  More importantly most fires start at night when people are asleep.   This is why havng effcient smoke detectors and escape plan  is so important.  Battery operated smoke detectors are very affordable.  Smoke detectors should be on every level of the home.  Hallways, bedrooms, and attics are the best cites.  Attach the detector on or near the ceiling according to the manufacturer's instrutions.   
Check each detector once a month to make sure it works properly.  Replace dead batteries immediately.  If a fire occurs, gather everyone and move quickly through te nearest reachable escape route.  If the room is filled with smoke, stay close to the floor as you exit.  Feel each door before opening it.  If a door is hot take another route .  Close all doors behind you when leaving and do not reenter the home for any reason If clothing catches on fire,the person should drop to the ground and roll over to smother the flames.
