Liszt performed in Vienna, Beethoven was there, it is said that he gave him a "kiss of consecration" bc of how much he loved it - probably unlikely bc Beethoven was deaf. But he could've felt the vibrations of the piano on his hands and then knew that it was good.

Born on October 22, 1811, in Raiding, Hungary.
Father taught him how to play piano
at age 6, he was thought to be a child prodigy and by age 9 he participated in concerts
After hearing him play, Antonio Salieri (who was an old rival of mozart and teacher of beethoven) taught him for free
at age 12, liszt tried to get into the paris conservatory but were denied, so he got ferdinando Paer to teach him advanced composition.
It was under Paer that liszt wrote Don Sanche, his only opera.
His father's death pushed Liszt to turn away from music, instead choosing to read and study art and religion.

Died on July 31, 1886 (aged 74), in Bayreuth, Germany.

In 1828 Liszt fell in love with one of his students, but the girl's father disagreed, so Liszt became very sick. After his illness, he didn't touch the piano for more than one year, and he very disliked his career of a virtuoso. He read widely, and contacted with many of the leading artists, including Victor Hugo.

Liszt has an illegitimate daughter named Cosima. Her ex-husband was Liszt's student, pianist and conductor Hans von Bulow.
Richard Wagner was 24 years older than Cosima, and also had a wife. But Cosima fell in love with Wagner, and maried with him.
So Liszt also was Wagner's father-in-law.
