Why do you want to be a nurse ? Ext…

I’ve always dreamed about working in health care . Since I was in middle school actually . Every day from the moment i put one foot in my room I’ve always watched grey’s anatomy while eating lunch . It’s , today and always will be one of may favorite memories .
But sometimes tv shows are not the reality . I was very strong on my decision to get to medical school , and I thank god that I didn’t pass the test , otherwise I would not ever discovered my love for the nurse program . My intentions were always to be near the patient, to help it non from afar , but with everyday tasks , from the most complex ones to obviously the ones that required medication attention. Maybe that’s a reason why during my rotation kids always loved me .
In just a few words , cause I could write a poem , that’s the reason . I wanna see kids smile , with pain or not, I wanna see the families smile and crying when they leave , that’s the part . That’s the part that makes you realise you’ve done a great job , even if your tasks as a student were not so complex.
For the decision actually people tried to tell me it was a difficult and even not well payed job , but I’m very firm on my ideas and thoughts. It’s a great job , from every aspect . I’ve been thinking about lately into enrol for the military academy at the end of my course and with the degree of course . it's a different reality from the hospital , with different patients ext , but i think i have the fit for it , as everyone tells me my personality is very strong , and it has always been like this , so i'm exited to experience it .

Summarise a TV show , movie or book ...

I've watched at least 10 TV shows that regard the medical field , such as grey's anatomy or the resident . Probably the ones that i love are : code black, the resident , grey's anatomy and ER , even if got out in the first place when i Was not even Born.
The one with the most seasons and watched the most times is grey's anatomy, wich by the way has the best plot. It circles around 2 main figures, at least on the first 11 seasons , wich are meredith and derek. The show takes places in a hospital called siattle grey's mercy west, but changed so many times that I don't even remember them all, there are all kinds of patients and all kinds of cases. Usally in every episode they show the most difficult and dramatic ones , probably to create suspence or even more to not bore people who are on the other side watching it on the couch. Of course in every season from time to time some episodes are dedicated to natural disasters in which some of the characters die , such as the 11th in which my favorite one tragically dies : derek . Personally , and I can speak for the rest of the USA , is very beautiful , non using other words that I cannot say . But here are many ones that I liked also , such al lexy grey or mark sloan . I believe the show lost much of the audience from the 12th one , it is in fact slowly moving forward , but without any sense . I stopped watching probably at the 14th or 15th just because it doesn’t give the vibes that I felt before. The conversation are always the same , even the cases at some point are repetitive , and all the great actor left because they made them leave or die in it .
In conclusion I can say that overall is a great show that I will rewatch for sure other times , but right now I believe it should end at the 20th season just because moving forward with other episode will make it loose the fame that it has.

Such as medical gloves and masks to protect themselves from diseases they could get from bacteria that lives in the air. The lungs are from the main part of the body that is affected, because they product excess mucus that blocks the airways . The isolation methods are especially to protect them from other cystic fibrosis patients , because each has different bacteria in fact they have to stay 6 feet apart from each other ,Such as the film “six feet apart”. otherwise they contract bacteria they could never recover from or even die.

I’ve rotated in 3 different kinds of wards in the hospital , and noticed many kinds of tutors as well . The fact that cought my attention was that good tutor make you love the job , all the listening about the procedures and how to practice medicine as well . At the moment I am doing my rotations and unfortunately got the wrong kind of teachers . It’s the opposite of what I love , they don’t give that good feeling of being there , simply by putting pressure on you on every little activity . I would like to be a tutor to see and feel the joy of my students when they listen to my previous experience, my knowledge and teaching skills , cause that’s the key to really be the change and make great nurses.

in my first year when I was in the “semi intensive pediatric care “I had a great tutor , her name is Francesca . It was a pleasure and joy every day going to my shifts cause the feeling I had with her was like mother- daughter like . She was great at teaching and explaining every detail of different procedures . We shared information that went over the simple relationship that you can create with a tutor . Some may find this inappropriate, but I believe that this kind of connection , can make you change , remember details , share insecurities or doubts about a procedure , a technique or everything else . Something that I don’t have at the moment in the ward I’m currently in , cause my tutor is the exact opposite . She is very anxious and as a consequence puts this pressure on my , that doesn’t make learning fun as it should be

MANDATORY 2 year : what makes a good nurse ? What skills are needed ?

As I am in the middle of my second year I’ve noticed different habits , skills and way of acting of the nurses . Each person develops a way of working , creates a scheme and goes through it , but sometimes that’s not enough . I believe that each patient is unique , some act like everyone is the same , but for me .each patient has a story , has a name , it’s not only a number . What makes a good nurse is not only the precision , the perfection of each skill , it is caring , listening to the needs of the patient . That makes you hole , cures the patient or helps to proceed in the right direction .

I’ve seen many nurses that only care about the Precision of the therapy making , the registration of information , but when you need to be for them emotionally , they lack of empathy, which is the key to make them better . I know I am not perfect at the moment , as a student I have a lot to learn , but for sure I will always be the kind of nurse that prefers to pass his free time with the kids than in the break room .

IMPROVING PATIENT CARE ( page 57)

In 1999 a girl named Isabel got sick and contracted chickenpox. The diagnosis was correct but her simptons got progressively worse and eventually went into multiple organ failure as a consequence of a toxic shock sindrome caused by a tipe of bacteria that causes : necrotizing fasciitis. Isabel made a full recovery but the main focus of her parents was the mis diagnosed simptomps at the beginning of, that nearly caused her death . Her parents , with the help of her pediatrician came up with the idea of creating a tool to help doctor recognize the simptomps and stop diagnosis and decision errors, in fact they left their jobs and created a charity , and eventually created a software named “ Isabel “ that allows the medical staff to search all the simptons of a patient, and this can lead to various of possible diagnosis. Initially was designed for pediatric patients but then slowly included adults , and its not only a tool to expert doctors but also for less experienced physicians and cases that are difficult to solve .
