Temperance movements were social uprisings against the use of alcohol. People who supported the temperance movement want to stop the use of alcohol because they felt like alcohol would ruin America and would ruin families. The temperance society would use propaganda to convey their message that alcohol is the enemy. All the movements led to the prohibition.

The prohibition of alcohol left people very biased towards where they stand during the prohibition. Groups like the Anti-Saloon League and progressive reformers were for the prohibition because they felt that alcohol was hurting the working class and that the government should do something to help America. Other groups for the prohibition were industrialist and union organizers. They, however, wanted the ban of alcohol because they felt that workers were hurting their businesses by showing up to work drunk and not being productive. On the other hand, groups like Brewers’ and Distillers’ we’re against the prohibition because it directly impacted their companies and they felt that that it was a personal choice to drink. Elliot Ness was a relevant contributor to the prohibition of alcohol because he tried to take Al Capone and tried this best to stop all other mobsters by prohibiting alcohol.
