      <title>Fred Umar - Composer Who Arranges Choral Works for Symphony by Fred Umar</title>

      <description>A composer based in Northern California, Frederick “Fred” Umar works on developing orchestral and wind band arrangements of well-choral works. In recent years, he has undertaken commissions for institutions ranging from Concordia University in Chicago to Shantou University in China. Fred Umar has also guided recording sessions with groups such as the Philadelphia Wind Symphony and Messiah College Wind Ensemble.

Dr. Umar earned his Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction (Music) from La Sierra University in Riverside, where he focused on educational models that would enable implementation of national standards in the classroom. He completed his dissertation on the topic “An Evaluation of the Ostling Research Design for Establishing a Repertoire of Serious Artistic Merit.” He has since pursued doctoral studies in educational neuroscience at Harvard University and will earn a doctorate in educational psychology from La Sierra University mid-2021..

Frederick Umar has achieved significant recognition in his field, including being awarded transcription rights for Dance Symphony by the Aaron Copland Trust in 2014. In the same year, he also received transcription rights for Nikolai Myaskovsky’s Revolutionary Symphony No. 6 in E-flat. Fred Umar’s musical leadership roles have included responsibilities as a department chair, executive director, and assistant musical director of of both choirs, orchestras, and wind ensembles. He is a regular guest of ensembles around the US, and his works have been featured in commercials, most recently in China.</description>
