For the second marking period I chose the book Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. This book is about a girl named Hannah Baker that really struggles throughout her entire high school life. She was bullied and harassed by everyone that she thought was her friend . The entire book is the tapes she made for the people that made her kill herself. She mailed them to the person on the first tape and told them all the rules. Everyone had to send it to the next person because Hannah had someone paying attention. She said in the beginning of the first tape that if someone does not send the tapes she will have them played where everyone can hear what these people did to her. One boy named Clay Jenson was someone very close to Hannah he was in love with her and she was in love with him, but did not realize it right away. They began to get very close and they started to meet up and go on dates. Clay was extremely depressed when Hannah killed hersef because things fell apart between them right before she did it. He had no idea that he would be a reason for her decision. He later found out that he was the one person that helped her get through the hardest times of her life. When Hannah started to think about committing suicide Clay began to hear rumors about Hannah and she heard rumors about Clay. They had a bit of a falling out, but patched things up pretty quickly. Hannah apologized to him on the tapes because she had no intentions of hurting him. When Hannah decided when she would go through with her decision she went to the post office and sent the tapes, then she went and got razor blades from the store. She then was found dead in the bathroom discovered by her mother. At school they had an assembly on what had happened and of course the people on the tapes did not believe she would go through with it, but then once they found out they began to feel extremely sorry for what they had done to her. Soon after one person commited suicide as well. This book was absolutely amazing and very sad. I would suggest this book to everyone. There was great detail and you were never left hanging.
