In term 1.1 we studied Poetry. The anthology of Poetry we studied, focused on childhood. My favourite poem we studied was ‘Quieter than Snow’. The skills we used developed in this unit were retrieval inference and analysis. We also worked on how to write an analytical essay.

Strengths

My strength is i have expressed my thoughts about the poem very clearly and used evidence to support my ideas, I have shown a very strong focus on the question, I have clearly explained how you would feel, I have used lots of relevant evidence from the text, I am able to use clear, accurate and focused points about the poem, and i have used relevant evidence from the poem to support each point.

Targets

My targets are, to think about describing the senses, avoid repeating my ideas, try to deconstruct how the language adds meaning, and exploring the connotations of language.

Term 1.2

In term 1.2 we have been studying persuasive speeches. We analyzed speeches made by famous people. We also worked on writing our own persuasive speeches.

Strengths

In persuasive speeches, my strengths are, good use of exclamation, I am able to structure my writing using paragraphs, I can use use facts and statistics to support my answer, and I use ambitious vocabulary.

Targets

My targets are, i need to think carefully about my audience when i am writing, I should use a variety of persuasive devices, and i have to think carefully about the vocabulary I choose.

In my English lessons next term u must ensure that I need to be more collaborative.

Time management which helps you complete and submit assignments on time and with excellence. 

Independent learning and being a self-motivated learner.

My Targets
To increase the number of verses for memorisation and ensure that Tajweed rules are strictly followed. 

To further enhance the use of Quranic verses and Hadeeths to support your answers in the notebook and the exams. 

To ensure all answers provided in class or in writing are detailed and include real-life applications.
