We might continue to consider ways to to increase communication around practice- which might range from internal platforms for the Practice Council (e.g., shared intranet space- as we are exploring), quarterly update from Practice Council for the UTSPH community, to spotlighting students, community precepters and faculty in relation to practicum/practice via our different external facing platforms.

Having OPHPE work with PC department reps to attend the first department meeting of every semester to provide guidelines and expectations, upcoming dates and deadlines, and answer questions. This should become a normal, reoccurring opportunity that would increase communication with faculty and help deliver information.

The pandemic opened new opportunities for practicum experiences to be arranged without geographical restrictions - I think this benefitted students and community partners (since practicum experiences can often foster job opportunities, this is also a way to drive an educated work-force to the highest-need parts of our state). To the extent possible/allowable (e.g. by CEPH), it would be great to see if we can make the best of both worlds. How can we foster broader geographic placement of students using both technology options (work from anyplace as we did during the pandemic) and funding opportunities to support travel. For example, are there ways to provide travel stipends so students can engage remotely for part of the practicum but travel to that region for in-person engagement with the community preceptor as well?
