The parody has been created to showcase the work ethic of the youth. We can do it "later" is used to symbolise procrastination.

It follows the same colour scheme, and the text style of the original. However, the lady has been animated and the word "later" has been added. The factory logo has been changed to "meh", and the fist has turned into grabbing a burger.

The time and target audience is aimed at the 21st century. It relates to the current generation who all have experienced this at a point of time.

Nothing of the original message is present, as the 'We can Do it" poster portrayed women empowerment, but this one just talks about procrastination and is not specific to women. It shows the postponement of work.

Why has this parody been created? What’s the author’s purpose?

The authors of this parody are IB students. The purpose of the parody is to provide a source of satirical humor as entertainment, since it is something a lot of them would relate to. The author, being an IB student themself, understands the extreme pressure that IB puts its students through, which is what makes the entire poster all the more relatable.

How does it borrow stylistic and structural elements from the original ‘we can do it’ poster?

The structure and the composition of the parody is the same as the original ‘we can do it’ poster. The use of the IB logo, blade as well as the change in the original “we can do it” text changes the meaning of the poster to show how IB students feel about their curriculum.

How does the meaning of your parody depend on the target audiences’ knowledge of people, places, times and other texts?

The parody is specifically targeted at IB students, and it is quite likely that they are the only ones who will understand the true pain of IB. Anyone else viewing this poster will understand the context and the reference to the original ‘We Can Do It’ poster. However, they might not relate to it.

How much of the original message from ‘We can do it!’ is still present in your parody?

-The original message has been altered to say “we can’t do it”. This represents how most IB students feel about their curriculum and course. The poster has been transformed from a motivational poster to an accurate representation of IB students in a satirical way.

Why has this parody been created? What’s the author’s purpose?
The parody has been created to show the pressure on a teenager’s life. The purpose is to portray how each teenager has so much in their mind everyday and night. Contrary to the original propaganda poster which says, “We Can Do It!”, the title of the parody poster states “We Can’t Do It!” which tells the audience how the teenagers of this age have so much going on in their minds and how they find it really tough to cop with everything like maintaining a balance their school work, giving time to their family and friends and finding some time for some self care.

How does it borrow stylistic and structural elements from the original ‘we can do it’ poster?
The colour scheme used in the parody is similar to the original poster. The structure of the poster is also similar to the original one with the same camera angle and same positioning of the illustration but the pose of her hand has been altered to suite the purpose of the poster. The text has also been stated in the same position but the phrase has been changed from "we can do it!" to "we can't do it!" to serve the purpose of creation.

How does the meaning of your parody depend on the target audiences’ knowledge of people, places, times and other texts?
The target audience of the poster are parents and teachers as the poster is trying portray the amount of work and social life burden that an average teenager faces in today's world. It also focuses on the COVID-19 pandemic period as it has affected everyone in different ways and the teenagers have found it tough to study from home and are not able to be in much contact with their friends.

How much of the original message from ‘We can do it!’ is still present in your parody?
The message of the parody is
"We Can't Do It!" which is in contrary to the original message, "We Can Do It!" as the poster revolves around the stress and other difficulties faced by the teenagers which makes them believe that they "can't" survive and live upto certain expectations in such an environment.

The following parody is made by Kirkbi A/S (owners of the Lego group). It is a comedic revamp of the 1940's Rosie the Riveter poster. Its sole purpose is to market the infamous lego toys. The colour scheme of the pardoy isn't different in any sense to the original poster. The word 'build' has replaced 'do' in the parody, which is the only linguistic change. Rosie the riveter has been drawn in a lego build in this parody. despite all these artistic changes, we can see a resemblence to the original source material, which is the case for all parodies. The change of the audience and product has caused these changes in the parody. Lego is a product that for a greater part of its existence has been advertised to boys, this adverted by the brand atempts to adapt to the more gender neutral age of today.
