         <description><![CDATA[<div>Modernism started around the early 1900s and continued until the early 1940s. From 1914 to 1939 is be more specific. Modernist writers generally rebelled against clear cut storytelling and formulaic verse from the 19th century.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) was an American writer who burst onto the modernist literary scene in Paris during the 1920s and subsequently became one of the most famous authors of the twentieth century. In 1952 The Old Man and the Sea won the Pulitzer Prize, and in 1954. <br>Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. His prolific literary contributions also include collections of short stories, many of which have appeared in anthologies and textbooks.</div>]]></description>
