For anyone who loves history and museums the best place to go is the 9/11 memorial. This memorial has an outdoor section showing where the Twin Towers used to stand and then an indoor museum showing the events leading up to the disaster and the people who passed away. Another main attraction of New York City is Central Park. This park was the first landscaped public park in the U.S. and holds a zoo, gardens, and theaters. This park is also home to many movie scenes. Lastly, another must-do is visiting the Statue of Liberty. This statue was given to the U.S. by France as a token of an alliance after the American Revolution. Take a boat across Upper New York Bay and see the Statue of Liberty up close! New York City has many more attractions like Times Square and the Empire State Building but these three are my main three.

New York City has cool winters and warm summers. During the winter they average around 32 degrees Fahrenheit while in the summer they average 78 degrees Fahrenheit with some days even getting to 100 degrees! During their spring they average between 36 degrees and 55 degrees. In the fall they average 41 degrees to 61 degrees. Rain in New York City is abundant reaching more than 1,200 millimeters (47 inches) of rainfall per year. Their wettest month is July (115 mm) while their driest is February (80 mm). Although, rainfall mostly happens throughout the whole year. The best time to visit New York City is during the fall unless you enjoy the harsh cold or summer heat. Although personally, going during their fall temperature seems most comfortable. Additionally, watching the leaves change color and fall is beautiful in Central Park.

New York City has made some huge improvements due to their new Air Pollution Control Code but before this was enforced their air quality was awful. Based on 2006-2007 data there were approximately 6,000 emergency department visits for asthma in children and adults due to their high PM levels. For the high ozone levels, about 4,700 people visited the hospital for asthma. Ozone reaches high levels from the emission of cars, power plants, industrial boilers, refineries, chemical plants, and other sources that chemically react to sunlight. Although in NYC, most of their emissions come from vehicles since most residents commute from Manhattan. During New York City's high temperature seasons, pollutants and NOx react with the sunlight to create ozone. PM come from cars, trucks, buses, and other vehicles that burns fuel and emits NOx, CO, and other pollutants.
