I chose this event because it acknowledges the date of the beginning of notorious Hawaiian culture. The Declaration of Independencec gave birth to what we know as the United States of America. It consists of the ideals and goals of our nations to also serve as a reminder for our current leaders and followers. It contains the complaints against the British king to hopefully ensure history does not allow itself to repeat. With Hawaii also being apart of America, we were also free from the controlling shackles of the British king.

This event plays a crucial role in World History due to the fact that this event led to the acknowledgement of Hawaii's existence to be spread. While he deserves the credit of discovering Hawaii and spreading awareness, many people, especially the Hawaiians, do not believe he should be given honor for it. They believe he should be eradicated from it due to his disrespectful actions he committed during his visits to Hawaii.
