Also they had very little clean water 1/5 of the soldiers have shoes the rest do no t. Nine days later, they won a victory against the British under Lord Cornwallis at the Battle of Monmouth in New jersey. The  men where motivated because they won the war and now they had victory on the British. This why they where motivated
