         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Born July 25, 1941<br>-Grew up in Chicago in a middle class black neighborhood.<br>-Parents were separated when he was very young.<br>-Father served in World War ll<br>-Contracted Polio at a young age, developed a persistent stutter due to the disease.<br>-Emmett's Uncle Moses told him fascinating stories of the life in Mississippi, motivated Emmett to visit the place himself.<br>-Though Mamie, Emmett's mother, did not like the idea of him visiting because of  the racial violence in Mississippi, he was persistent so she let him go with his Uncle Moses in August, 1955.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Roy Bryant who was the proprietor of the store and the woman’s husband had come back from a business trip a few days later and heard how Emmett had allegedly spoken to his wife.<br>-Infuriated, Roy and his brother in law Milam drove straight to Moses house to speak to Tills great uncle <br>-Till was kidnapped on the night of August 28, 1955 from the house of his uncle, Moses Wright.<br>-The two men forced Till into their car and drove all over Memphis. Sources say the two men may have beaten Till in a tool house behind Milams residence then drove him down to the Tallahatchie river<br>-His kidnapping was witnessed by his cousins Wheeler Parker and Simeon Wright.<br>-Three days later his body but was so disfigured that Moses Wright could not even recognize him<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-there was clear evidence that 2 white men committed the crime yet the all white jury returned a "not guilty" verdict<br>-the verdict of Emmett being guilty provoked both angry editorials and calls for federal legislation to protect the civil rights of African Americans<br>-there were protest rallies held, drawing thousands of cases <br>-Milam''s and Bryant's  stores, which catered exclusively to local blacks, were boycotted and within 15 months all of these stores were either closed or sold<br>-none of the men who participated in the kidnapping, beating, or murder of Emmett Till ever faced charges </div>]]></description>
