Prove that: (i) the sum of a complex number and its conjugate is real <br> (ii) the product of a complex number and its conjugate is real. The sum and product of two complex numbers are real if and only if they are conjugate of each other This always happens when a complex number is multiplied by its conjugate - a result is a real number. Once again, we have multiplied a complex number by its conjugate and an answer is a real number. This is a very important property that applies to every complex conjugate pair of numbers.

Complex numbers cannot be graphed regularly like other numbers. Instead, for complex numbers, you have to map the real part to the x-axis and the imaginary part to the y-axis. The real part could be any number, like 1, 2, 3, so on. The imaginary part would be a number with a letter attached to it, for example, 1i, 2i, 3i, and so on. A simple formula to follow would be a + bi = (a, b). So for example, 3 -2i would become (3, -2).
