I had wanted to keep it short, but it seemed important to ride their wave and validate or share in their excitement. So much of our time is scripted and focused . Its good to just chat a little bit and have some natural laughs.

I had two students in mind this morning to make a good connection with today - to be extra intentional in how I listen, what I say and how I respond. My students and I have a lot of fun. We dig into our studies with spirit and solve problems together with a lot of love... but, we're at the stage in the year where I'm seeing the connections that didn't sync, or synergize, or fully latch together in the first quarter and a half. I feel guilty for saying that - a lot of the year is over. 

The thing is, I want to do better tomorrow. I am going to try again, and differently. That's my focus.

One of those students I had in mind went home sick today. Before the student left, in the earliest part of the day, I was intentional in our interactions. The other student was engaged during our lessons and did well in our small group for math.  I'm going to keep after them both. 

One last thought.... Four students went home sick in a big pale, hot, mess. When my 1st student of intentionality went home, I quickly realized I needed to be more intentional with 2-3 others because their ability to be mentally and spiritually present in the classroom is so tenuous. This seems like a big idea worth thinking about more soon.
