the author mainly in the story uses characterization on the character Camino the one who arguably loved her father so much more from the story we the reader can tell that she is very wise for her age even knowing how to react when and act when she is infront a dying lady knowing all of the actions to do to help her aunt. another way that the author used characterization on Camino is by giving her goals like to make it to the united states and becoming a doctor a dream that her father claims to do believe in but she loves her father which is on of her main character traits and he is the most important part of her life and is one of the people who drive her everyday even though he's only there for 2 months of the year

Yahaira's point of view is very much different from Camino in the way she finds out, Camino finds out at the airport when they say the plane crashed while Yahaira found out in school around a bunch of administrators and her crying mother yet the news of her father dying seemingly didn't affect her as she new about her fathers infadelity continued on her day some may say she was in shock but I don't think so.

the main argument the the speaker is trying to convey is the fact that because of the Palestinians trying to live on the land they believe belongs to them is inciting the war not because of they're religion.the speaker supports this by saying "how many countries have been established these times 10s at least everybody have peace but Israel" he also says that when he lived near Muslims or people of other races there was no problem they were friends so it has mostly nothing to do with race but everything to do with the land that they are occupying

the conflict that is demonstrated in the text in internal we can see that Camino is fighting a every hard battle within herself in accepting her fathers death even saying that "I am pretending Papi being dead does not change anything.". this shows us the reader that Camino playing it off like shes fine and will get past it is a conflict for her

I believe that the theme of the story Clap When You Land is about grief and how different people come to terms with their grief as us the reader can see from Camino's perspective the death of her father weighed so much on her and she tries many things such as going to the beach where they would spend days at. We can get a good insight about how she feels when she stated "I never felt like an orphan till today" this shows us the reader that after her fathers death she feels as if she has lost all her family even though her tia is still there and she doesn't know how to feel about it even though her tia continues to try to help by praying and her friend tries to to take her out she can't stop feeling that grief

there are many instancies of figurative language in the story like when she says "I never felt like an orphan till today" this isn't true because she still has her tia and still lives and loves her but the death of her two parents make her feel as if she has been orphaned. another time they used figurative language is when she said "when his flight rose to the sky her took all the air on earth with him" meaning that without air she can't breath and if you can't breath you cant live therefore she cant live without him
