The traditional Vietnamese wedding is one of the most important ceremonies in Vietnamese culture. This ceremony shows adulthood. On the wedding day the bride and the grooms has to wear a traditional Ao dai (dress). The ceremonies consitist of asking permission to receive the bride, receiving the bride at her house, and bringing the bride to the groom's house.

New year is different in the U.S. because in Vietnam the country shuts down for one week to celebrate the new years. In Vietnam they also perform dragon dances and people feed the dragon dancers money for good luck.

America adopted condiment from Vietnam such as Sriracha. Sriracha is a type of hot sauce or chili sauce made from a paste of chili peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt. Since America adopted this sauce they have made chips, mayo, ketchup, burgers, popcorn, and burritos flavored Sriracha.

I learned that in the past Vietnam was in divided in two, south and north Vietnam. The two parts of Vietnam went to war and the north ended up winning. Since my family were fighting for the south they left Vietnam to America to seek a better life.
