Today, we visited the rainforest in Guadeloupe, one of the most unique biospheres in the world. Many people bring different plants here, and they grow together and support each other. But why can plants live in harmony while people struggle to do the same?

I also learned that national, natural, and global identity are always changing. We should think globally and act locally.

Today, I also tasted fresh sugarcane for the first time.

Today I explored the rainforest and learnt that Guadeloupe is a fascinating natural paradise with dense vegetation, waterfalls and a rich diversity of species. Hiking trails lead through the dense tropical forest and we discovered ferns, mahogany trees and lianas. Orchids also grow higher up. At 1400 metres, the volcano La Soufrière is the highest mountain in Guadeloupe. Because of it, there are also some black sand beaches on Basse Terre in Guadeloupe. I tasted sugar cane, guava, a red fruit whose name I can no longer remember and pancakes made from manjoc flour.

Today, we took an exciting trip into the rainforest. There, we focused on the topic of global citizenship. We learned that the diversity of the rainforest can also be applied to the boundless diversity in the world. I got to try two new fruits and sugarcane, experiencing the diversity of Guadeloupe through taste. Later, I also learned how pancakes made from cassava root taste.

Today we learned about the rainforest in Guadeloupe. There I felt conncted to nature. The lush flora and fauna give a sense of being there for thousands of years and respecting nature and all the living things in it.

We are all a big global village. We increasingly live and work with people from arauond the world, a common mantra associated with global citizenship is "THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY".

It is very important to observe how people live in the world, their culture, traditions, social and economic politics that shape their life, in order to act personally and profesionally.

We talked about identity and belonging, sustainable living, conflict and peace, fairness and equality, rights and responsibities.

A character in a novel by Irish dramatist and novelist George Bernard Shaw once says in passing: “No man manages his affairs as well as a tree does.” A tree in a tropical rainforest certainly is an impressive self-manager – it sometimes endures and supports a thousand different species of organisms living with it in a symbiotic, often semi-parasitical, relationship and does so to a breath-taking effect. We could take our cues from there. The modern human being, admittedly, may be viewed as a semi-parasite of the planet. But if that semi-parasite is a global citizen characterized by self-awareness, empathy, conflict-management skills, creative and critical thinking, intrapersonal and interpersonal communication skills, cooperation skills, awareness of rights and responsibilities and a commitment to sustainability, we could make this global ecosystem work.

I have realised that you have to listen to your body that's why I didn't join the course. I really didn't feel well and my whole day was for resting, healing and doing reflexion about past courses. But I was still connected with beautiful nature even though just watching from the window. Looking forward for next activities.
