The article also states how many opportunities UF gives their pre-vet students, like having a very hands-on curriculum.

Vint Virga is a very credible author. He has his doctorate in veterinary medicine and he has many years of veterinary experience under his belt. This is a great source to show how much compassion and empathy you have to have to be able to do this job properly. The author tells personal stories from his own veterinary experiences and he shows us how empathetic animals are. He also shows us how personable our pets can be.

Various data gathered here filters back to my claim. For example, "Hands-on type of experiences lead to increased science achievement and cognitive development," (Biermann and Sarinsky 340). Furthermore, these authors conducted many different studies about different science learning/teaching styles and the hands-on approach was the most effective.

In addition, "'The hands-on learning is the most unique part of our program relative to other, larger programs, but it’s also the faculty here and the amount of time they put in working with students, advising them and being available to them,' McCarthy said," (Gray). McCarthy is an authority here as he is the chairman of the Department of Animal and Pre-Veterinary studies at the University of Findlay. In short, most other universities don't have the same level of independence and trust that UF has for their students. Clearly, they teach their students how everything should look and feel and how certain protocols should be done straight out of the gate. Ultimately, this factor alone sets them apart from any other college/university.

The hands-on learning out in the field is exactly what other science students(like myself) need when learning new things. I'm very confident in my decision to attend The University of Findlay this upcoming fall.
