For example, "Hands-on type of experiences lead to increased science achievement and cognitive development," (Biermann and Sarinsky 340). Furthermore, these authors conducted many different studies about different science learning/teaching styles and the hands-on approach was the most effective.

In addition, "'The hands-on learning is the most unique part of our program relative to other, larger programs, but it’s also the faculty here and the amount of time they put in working with students, advising them and being available to them,' McCarthy said," (Gray). McCarthy is an authority here as he is the chairman of the Department of Animal and Pre-Veterinary studies at the University of Findlay. In short, most other universities don't have the same level of independence and trust that UF has for their students. Clearly, they teach their students how everything should look and feel and how certain protocols should be done straight out of the gate. The hands-on learning out in the field is exactly what other science students(like myself) need when learning new things.
