I can infer that Laurie's teacher is very patient, bold and good at solving problems. She punishes Laurie only when necessary and is praising him when he does better. Text Evidence that proves this is,
“We’re all so interested in Laurie,” she said.
“We had a little trouble adjusting, the first week or so,” she
said primly, “but now he’s a fine little helper. With occasional
lapses, of course.” This shows that Lauries teacher respects Laurie when he is good, but will punish him when he is naughty.

I can infer about Laurie's teacher that she is strict. I think this because in the text, it states that Laurie’s teacher would spank kids and wash their mouths out with soap when the said something they shouldn’t have. This shows that she is strict because when the kids do something wrong she has horrible consequences, that might not be used in catholic schools today.

From the text it states, “We had a little trouble adjusting, the first week or so,” she said primly, “but now he’s a fine little helper. With occasional lapses, of course.” I think this supports my claim because she said “primly” or “in a proper manner” which could mean she knows what she is doing and is serious. Also the author said that she spanked him, made him stay after school, wash his mouth out with soap, and sent him down to the principles a few times. That supports my claim because it shows she is very stern and does not like it when people mess around.

But then she gave him jobs and Laurie became her helper. In the text it says “The teacher spanked him and made him stand in a corner. He was awfully fresh.” this supports that she is Strict because she wants to put an end to his bad behavior. In the text is also says “What happened?” I asked incredulously. “He was her helper, that’s all,” this supports that she is considerate because she gives him jobs and it makes him calm down and start to be good.

I can infer that Laurie’s teacher give a lot of discipline. If a child does something wrong, she does not go easy on children. “He told a little girl to say a word and she said it and the teacher washed her mouth out with soap and Charles laughed.” Also, there was this, “The teacher spanked a boy, though,” In our school district, teachers don’t do that to children. The teacher must have been very strict with children’s behavior, and didn’t let anything pass. The teacher had also washed out Charles mouth with soap, too. We also inferred earlier that this was a Catholic school, so that may also explain why the teachers are allowed to spank and wash children’s mouths out with soap.

I think this because she spanked Laurie because he said his name the Lords name in vain and she washed his mouth out with soap but when she talk to Laurie's mom she doesn't say anything bad about Laurie. This shows she gives our harsh punishments put she can easily forgive people even when that person does something than is really mean like when Laurie punched another student right in there stomach.

From what we read in the text about Charles’ (Laurie’s) Punishments, I think if It was a catholic school, in kindergarten, and the story took place in the 1940s, I think the punishments of Charles(Laurie) having to stay after school, get spanked, and told the rest of the class not to play with him; I think his punishments from the teacher, were definitely fair at the time. If it were 2017, the teacher's actions would definitely be strict.

I infer that Laurie’s teacher is clever because in the text it talks about how she spanked him, held him after class, and even told the other kids to not play with him. The thing that shows she’s clever though is giving him the job of the teacher’s helper and that calmed Laurie down and for a while he acted right. In the text it says “we had a little trouble adjusting, the first week or but now he’s a fine little helper with occasional lapses of course.” This shows me she’s clever because if she just kept harshly punishing him like spanking him and much more he probably wouldn’t have changed, but when she decided to make him her helper that changed him which made Laurie start to act better so that was smart of her.
