Hello, everyone! My name is Júlia and I am 25 years old. I live in Canoas. I graduated in Languages – Portuguese and English – at UFRGS in 2023, and now I am a Master’s student in Applied Linguistics. I have been teaching English for more than seven years.

When it comes to learning, I really enjoy using textbooks, but I don’t like writing very long texts. My favorite movies are Catching Fire and Pride and Prejudice (the 2006 version). My favorite book is also Pride and Prejudice, and my favorite singer is Taylor Swift.

I am very happy to be here with you today and I’m excited to get to know each of you!

Hi! My name is Veyzon and I'm 36 years old. I'm from Porto Alegre, but I've been living in Panambi since 2022. I graduated in Law at PUCRS in 2011 and completed my master's degree there in 2015. My family has three dogs (Volt, Veyder, and Lupita), and they are my passion. I've worked in public service since 2007 and currently I'm court officer/bailiff. I love reading and watching movies and series. True crimes, documentaries, Brazilian audiovisuals, and horror scripts are my favorites. Bacurau, Do the Right Thing, and The Godfather are my favorite films. The Shining, the Millennium trilogy, and Solano Trindade's poetry anthology are my favorite books. I’m graduated in Law since 2009 and in legal Italian, and I’m a public servant.

I’m single, but I have a boyfriend. I don’t have children.

Hello dears! My name is Andréia, and I'm 52 years old. I've lived in Porto Alegre since I was born. I'm married, have a daughter, a stepson, and a dog. I graduated in social communications in 1998 and worked in marketing and public services as a communications assistant and coordinator of parliamentary offices for 22 years. I retired in 2020 and now do volunteer work. I love this part of my daily life. I also love sports, and I dedicate much of my day to running, yoga, beach tennis, and weight training. I love spending time with my family and watching TV shows and movies. We love traveling, which is why I study English, always trying to improve. My big dream is to live in another country….. who knows in Canada 🇨🇦!

Hello, teacher and colleagues! My name is Morgana, and I am a teacher from Caxias do Sul. I am married to Nei and we have two children: Isabella, who is 11 years old, and Augusto, who is 5. I have a degree and a master’s in Languages from the University of Caxias do Sul, and I am currently studying English at UFRGS. I have been working as a teacher in basic and higher education for almost 20 years. When I am not working or studying, I love spending time with my family, reading, and playing volleyball. My last readings were A cabeça do santo and Oração para desaparecer, by Socorro Acioli, which I enjoyed and recommend. I hope our semester is light and we keep learning together!

My name is Juliana and I´m 49y. I´m married and we have three childrens , Valentina 25 y. , Ana Julia 17y. and Carlos Eduardo 14y and my fur-baby Chalotte 8 y.

I live in Viamão since 2013.

I´m a Biologist and currently a Nutrition student, my second degree. I´m in sixth semester and i´m doing a intershio in social nutrition.

In my free-time I like to stay at home , read a book , last friday I bought a new book The Secret of Secrets - Dan Brown . I ´m also like to play beach tenis , go to the gyn and be in the company of friends and family.

About english I consider very important to me because I need to read scientific articles related a nutrition and also to travels.

My name is Raquel, I’m 34 years old, and I live in Porto Alegre, Brazil. I work as a Product Designer and I graduated in Graphic Design in 2015. I live with my fiancé, Juarez, and we have three pets: our cats Mia and Pantera, and our dog Maggie.

I really enjoy traveling, I’ve lived in Scotland and Mexico before, and my favorite hobbies are cooking and playing video games. What I like most about learning English is that it’s a universal language that allows me to communicate almost anywhere in the world, besides helping me expand my knowledge. What I don’t enjoy so much is that English is very different from Portuguese, so I sometimes struggle with verb tenses when speaking.

My favorite movies are not just one, but the whole Hunger Games saga. I also enjoyed the books, although I wouldn’t say they are my absolute favorites. When it comes to music, I like many genres, but my favorites are rock and pop. I’m a big fan of the Brazilian band Fresno.

I hope this semester will be an excellent experience for all of us!

I love listening to music and drawing or painting... My favorite type of music is MPB and my idol is Caetano Veloso, that I could to realize my dream of meeting him...

My favorite movie is "A beautiful woman" and my favorite book is "Brasil, uma história".

Something that I like about learning english is get to know better the words and the meaning of things when I going to watch a movie, for exemple. However, I don't like when they (americans or english) start to speak very fast... I have difficult to understand them.

Hello, guys! My name is Silvana, I am 54 years old. I live in Charqueadas but I worked in Porto Alegre for 16 years. I am retired. I graduated in Law and Spanish Language and Literature, postgraduate in Public Safety. Actually, I’m studying English and Spanish in NELE.

My current hobbies are: watching series and reality shows in English, reading books and listening to Slowly English Podcasts. I'm rereading One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marques.

My routine is to go to the gym, walk outdoors and stay at home (I like this a lot). I don't take on many commitments, because I travel a little during the year.

I tend to “get stuck” when interacting in English, but I talk to myself a lot, in my head.
