         <description><![CDATA[<div>Symbolism of fire: As a representative of nature, the fire represents a powerful force that almost completely decimates the house. (As a side note, a storm and a tree branch, also both elements of nature, helped to cause the fire.) A theme is "Nature is more powerful that technology." For example, in the aftermath of nuclear war, the world still turns, and according to the poem, Nature celebrates the disappearance of humans. </div>]]></description>

The most apparent part is the final lines of the poem "And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn, would scarcely know that we were gone" (Teasdale 1). The poem is stating that humanity will be forgotten entirely and nature will take over the Earth again. At the end of the story, the house represents humanity, simply an echo when all is said and done.</div>]]></description>
