Last week on my media report, I wrote about how my least favorite genre was pop music. I wrote about how, in my opinion, that most of the music within that genre lacks in originality or depth. I did, however, was able to understand the reason for the popularity of simple pop music. The songs are well liked by most of society because it is simple yet catchy music that can used for social events where people will recognize it. I found that people like pop music for the catchy sound and how easy a lot of this music is used to dance too. I used Meghan Trainor's song "All About That Bass" as one of my examples. This is an overall simple song that a lot of people like because of how catchy it is but also because of its message of body positivity. It's a song that expresses a positive message that a lot of people in society agree with and can relate to. This is true for a lot of pop songs and so I was able to understand why people like it so much. I wouldn't say I completely changed my mind about pop music but I can say I understand why people like it.
