         <description><![CDATA[<div>The mainshock and aftershocks happened on a fault line between the pacific plate and North American plate. Aftershocks that happened right after the mainshock had a magnitude of 6.0. They continued to have that magnitude for about 3 weeks and then they started happening less frequently. Although there were aftershocks still being reported 1 year after the mainshock.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After the earthquake and tsunami hit Alaska, scientist and government officials started to map out earthquake prone places around North America and they decided to take action in the way buildings were built. Buildings had to be more sturdy in case there was ever another earthquake as big as this one. They also moved the city of  Valdez because it was hit the worst by the tsunami and it was to close to the water, so they moved it to higher grounds.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The government also increased the amount of tsunami warnings and they practiced earthquake and tsunami drills multiple times. They also took into consideration the towns and cities that were close to where mud slides are likely to happen and they figured out escape routes for that and warning signs.</div>]]></description>
