I have learned in primary and secondary school that the “caribs and Arawak’s” were not civilized. The Europeans and the people who were told about it made it the only story and that stigma remained with them. The course Caribbean civilization opened my eyes to our history. We were taught that they were known the “caribs and Arawak’s” but they are neo Indians. Back then civilization or civilized were considered townsman, governed by the constitution and legal statues of the community. The Neo Indians have been underdogs of oppression since the Europeans arrived in the fifteenth century. Most of what was known about them during that period came from ethnocentric depicts of colonizers who alluded to them as savages, cannibals and culturelessness. The display of the neo Indians is so single dimensional that the whole race is victimized by the conventional image. For example, the neo Indian films, TV shows, even sports, portray them as violent, uncivilized villains. They exploit them as doing bad thing or emphasizing certain characteristics which they misrepresent.

       Another is transgenders. Transgender is someone who gender identity is dissimilar who has the identity of the opposite sex. they also have an issue due to having opposite genitals they may be a man and have a vagina or they may have breasts but feeling like a woman and have male sexual desires or a woman have a penis or beard she will feel like a man and her body have certain thing it goes through but she is still a woman. 

        

       We as a people can’t do anything about what society does. It happens all over the world not only the Caribbean. this is what your identity would be as a person who is either homosexual or tangential.
