One effect are his maps. his maps are of places he founded, sketches and drawings of natural features and coastal lines. this affected history/new nation in a positive way because he made correct and to scale maps for future explorers.

A third effect would be When he landed on the hawaiian islands. this had a major effect because the natives because falsely thought that he was a god. Also he would show violent behavior towards them. This is a negative because they thought wrongly of him. And later on he acted badly toward the natives. And he died by being stabbed by a native.

another effect is that he helped with capturing Quebec city. He was sent on a mission to chart waters and his maps helps navigate. This is a positive because it stopped war between opposing people.

“Ambition leads me not only farther than any other man has been before me, but as far as I think it possible for man to go.” - James cook

These two sources are different because source one is what james cook once said, this shows how he thinks and what he believes. Source two is from hawaiian natives and how they did not want people annexing their land. So they came together and petitioned against it.

On thing brought to the Hawaiian islands were infectious diseases like measles, influenza, tuberculosis, etc… this impacted the natives Hawaiians because one the diseases were introduced they can't be un-introduced. Some of theses diseases did not originate in the Hawaiian islands so people now days can get these diseases. This connects to diseases spread by traveling today. For example ebola was majorly spread throughout the world and one of those factors were people traveling by plane.

- The silk road and colonization

A similarity between the silk road and colonization would be the spreading of diseases like measles, the flu, yellow fever, smallpox, bubonic plague, malaria etc… which is a negative because they killed many people.

A difference would be that people wanted to colonize for religious reason/freedom/ a better way of life and the silk road was just people trading goods between one another. This is a positive because people life a better life they way the want to.

Another similarity would be the cultural blending/ ideas/ Knowledge when new people colonize to a place where people already live there. Their way or life and culture and other thing mix together. This is a positive because people learn and experience new things.
