It is considered a global icon thanks to its important contributions to the entertainment industry during much of the 20th century, famous for characters such as Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse. He founded along with his brother Roy O. Disney the company Walt Disney Productions, that years later became the most famous producer of the field of the animation and at present is the biggest company of mass media and entertainment of the world. This corporation, known today as The Walt Disney Company, is a multimillion-dollar company with annual revenues of tens of billions of dollars.
Disney gained worldwide fame as an animator and film producer, and as an innovative entrepreneur in the field of amusement parks. Together with his team he created some of the most famous animation characters in the world, especially Mickey Mouse, a cartoon of a mouse, to which Disney himself put his original voice. During his long and successful career in animated film, he was awarded 22 Oscar awards from a total of 59 nominations, and received four other honorary awards, making him the most awarded person in the Academy.
He was also honored with seven Emmy Awards.
