The classroom culture here was one of real learning and collaboration. Students were flexible about working with a group that was not their regular lab group and they were engaged in wanting to know. They talked to one another throughout, but about the activity and many of them sought out Dr. W to check their ideas and or results.

There are definitely good ideas for me in Dr. W's ways of teaching.

1. I tend to rush to doing without explaining. This class began with a detailed explanation of the purpose and methods of the lab. Not only did this help clarify the task but it allowed students time and space to develop their ideas.

2. Hypothesis. I do some of this in my classes, having students anticipate prior to having answers or explanation so that they have their own ideas, but I would like to think about more ways to do this to increase engagement. Thanks Dr. W.
