Which do you feel should be resourced for someone else to do?

What do you lose/ gain from doing these different roles?

rethinking what my team does and I can certainly frame it in civic terms so this has been a timely reminder to tune into all the relevant agendas to see which one resonates with our new VC.

I do have someone in my team who is doing community listening / engagement, but it's with a long-term research agenda, but we recognise it also has a civic role.

Chairing the Strategic Governance Board of Upward Bound, a local project providing additional Saturday tuition to local schoolchildren.

Liaison with Lord Mayor and City of London - working on co-ordination of a project for the LM (because he knows the President and I'm a common link).

Bridging between the Research area - REF/KEF reporting - and my role.

Co-Chair of the local Residents' Association - to keep the peace!

convenor- but across domains of limited experience, eg data gathering, marketing.

Trainer- helping others to understand what it means to be civic

Community listening- defining how we up-scale our work

student engagement

staff engagement

partnership engagement

all are essential

subject matter expertise is needed in some of these roles.

slow to get things done, not necessarily having strategic impact required.
